Stimulus or More Liberal Spending?

Suffice it to say that I'm one of the proud Conservatives who does NOT believe a stimulus plan is either necessary, nor likely to work. That being said, it is clear that the leftist government is not going to let us go without spending billions (possibly trillions) on stimulus plans because their recollection of history has them believing that government spending leads to economic security (even when this had never worked).

So, we are going to get stuck footing the bill for a stimulus plan. With dems in control of the House and Senate and a leftist in the White House, we don't have many other options. The lefts answer for everything is "spend more money." However, this stimulus plan is beyond absurd. Republicans who oppose it might be labeled as "being difficult" or "being soar losers" because of the economic "crisis."

Moreover, Obama and the democrats claim to want bipartisanship, but are unwilling to listen to the Republicans in the House and Senate who are pointing out many problems with this stimulus plan. Sure, they throw a few tax cuts in there to pretend they are working with conservatives, but they don't even reach Obama's "plan" to have 40% of relief in the form of tax cuts. The bill would offer a payroll tax cut of $500 to individuals who earn less than $75,000 a year, and a $1,000 credit to married couples who earn less than $150,000 a year. If that is tax relief than I'm the Queen of England.

Most egregiously, this bill is overflowing with pork that will force tax payers to pay for things that are in no way useful to stimulating the economy, even if you do buy into the argument that spending can stimulate. How do these examples fit into stimulating the economy or even creating jobs (though that is not the Governments job).

$44 million
for repairs at the Agriculture Department headquarters in Washington.

$200 million to rehabilitate the National Mall.

$360 million for new child care centers at military bases.

$1.8 billion to repair National Park Service facilities.

$276 million to update technology at the State Department.

$500 million for the Transportation Security Administration to install bomb detectors at airports.

$600 million
for General Services Administration to replace older vehicles with alternative fuel vehicles.

$2.5 billion to upgrade low-income housing.

$400 million for NASA scientists to conduct climate change research.

$426 million to construct facilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

$800 million to clean up Superfund sites.

$150 million for the Coast Guard to repair or remove bridges deemed a hazard to navigation.

$6.7 billion to renovate and improve energy efficiency at federal buildings.

$400 million to replace the Social Security Administration's 30-year-old National Computer Center.

$50 million outlay for the National Endowment for the Arts

$87 billion to help states with Medicaid costs that would allow states to expand their family planning services.

$726 million for an after school snack program.

I think these numbers speak for themselves. And is it any wonder why Obama and his buddies in the House are pushing this through as quickly as possible? Because anyone with half a brain sees this stimulus package for what it is: A liberal spending agenda masked as a necessity for the good of the economy. They are pushing through spending on products that the American public would not support and calling it "stimulus." It's 100% bull!

I hope you will call you're Senator and demand that he/she vote down this bill which in nothing more than stealing from the pockets of the American people to force a liberal agenda on us all.

I agree with you this 100% bull. It is interesting how Obama and the Democratic leadership is pushing for "bi-partizan" participation. If this is going to work so well wouldn't the democratic want to take all the credit, let the Republicans oppose them, then in the next election the democrats could use this against the republicans. I think they KNOW that this is not going to work, and want the Republicans to take the fall with them. Thank God that republicans in the house like Canter from VA are saying NO WAY are we going to put our name on this. The American public needs to support these Republicans. We can not put the burden of paying this back on our ourselves or our children. This is not going to help anyone! Stop the madness.

As always keep up the good work Krystle.

It is a stimulus... for the government. The American people are viewed as no more than a source of revenue. If they don't get enough from us directly, they'll take it indiectly by devaluing what we do have by printing what they want. Either way, we lose. The one silver lining to this Category 5 hurricane is that the Democrats will have to take the full blame when what we already know will happen comes to fruition.

As with many Bills that have gone through Congress ,It doesnt surprise anyone that this one is full of PORK Barrel spending ,that has become a NORM that needs to be changed..As a Taxpayer ,I would love to have some of the interest that we will have to pay on excess spending ..It seems to be forgotten that the economy cannot revive until the middle class feels more secure and the companies we work for give MORE of the money they make to US...I am sick of hearing that labor costs are too high..while they are is some places ,they are not in many..no one in American can hardly live on a wage of DOUBLE the minimum wage and be able to do much..the Costs of everything are too high and MOST of the reason why is GREED..So,lets not just stop raising taxes but also stop wasting taxpayer hard earned dollars and maybe then the pork barrel spending wont be necessary to get anything done in America...

If we can just get the taxpayers [who dislike very much the fact that "their" taxes are going to medicaid and food stamps] to realize that their hard-earned taxes are going to families of children who were knowingly and deliberately vaccine injured by pharmaceutical companies and pediatricians and gynecologists (gardasil) and politicians who have stood by and done nothing (except give lip service while accepting campaign contributions from the pharmaceutical companies) while medicaid and food stamps became part of the new norm for the 1.5 million plus families in the US since the very early 1990's. And that the above mentioned groups have REFUSED to stop even though we have begged them for decades to stop. We have to get to them and let them know this is still being done FOR PROFIT. They are lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical and insurance companies and all the clinicians who treat our children. And this CAN BE STOPPED if the toxins are removed from vaccines and the schedule drastically scaled back. We also have to remind them of the sheer numbers of young adults who will soon be receiving social security and later, medicare - now more than a generation of young adults who have not paid any in because they were too disabled to work.

Approximately 1.5 million has been paid by medicaid for medical treatments, services and prescriptions drugs in our household alone. And we are just ONE of the vaccine injured households that were forced to turn to medicaid when I had to quit my job to take care of my medically-devastated-by-vaccines child.

It is one thing to know that your taxes are going to a noble cause, such as helping children but it takes on a whole new light when you know that the children were knowingly disabled for life so that people in the medical/pharmaceutical profession could increase their profits on the backs of those children for the duration of their forever altered lifetimes. I don't believe all the doctors who have enjoyed an increase in profits consented to this in the beginning but we sure don't see the numbers of them objecting to it now that we should.

We have to get to the moms of (as yet) unaffected vaccinated children and the taxpayers who oppose liberal spending. They need to know what their elected officials are doing and have not done. This is a perfect time now that Obama is in office. And that is a sad fact that is not lost on me. I never thought he could be bought but the writing was pretty much on the wall when the pharmaceutical companies pledged to back his health care plan. IOW, mandatory vaccines full of dangerous and unnecessary toxins will be required to get health care.
